Baby has always had dry skin but now he has a red and irritated rash on his face. Could it be baby acne eczema and should you start worrying?

What Does Baby Acne Eczema Look Like?

Baby acne eczema is both harmless and short lived and is also far more common then you may realize, it will often easily clear up with out any intervention or treatment. More frustrating for both parent and child is eczema. You need to be able to establish the difference between baby acne eczema and a common heat rash, for example. It is also vital that you know the difference an allergic reaction to a particular food and baby acne eczema. If your baby is prone to dry skin that is easily irritated and if allergies run in your family, then it is likely that your baby’s rash could be baby acne eczema. Your baby will likely have patches of rough dry skin, scattered around their body as well as a red, raised rash on their face. Some of these dry, scaly areas will flare up and become more irritated. Skin creases are the areas where baby acne usually shows up: in the folds of the neck, inside the elbows, in the folds of the neck and even on the wrists and hands and feet. Interestingly, though, baby acne eczema does not affect those areas coverd by baby’s diaper so you can at least rest assured that any rash in that region is bound to be nappy rash and not baby acne eczema.
